This is the first installment of the Belle Point Prose Series, an ongoing collection of short prose works by Mid-Southern writers.

Sally Thomas is the author of a poetry collection, Motherland (Able Muse Press, 2020), and a novel, Works of Mercy (Wiseblood Books, 2022). She is also coeditor of an anthology, Christian Poetry in America Since 1940 (Paraclete Press, 2022). Her poetry, fiction, reviews, and essays have appeared in Ekstasis, First Things, North American Anglican, Plough Quarterly, Public Discourse, Pulsebeat, and the New York Sun, where she serves as associate poetry editor. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, she lives with her family in North Carolina.
